The Canberra Yacht Club Strategic Plan 2010-2013

This CYC Strategic Plan for the years 2010-2013 has been developed by the CYC Committee over the course of the first half of the 2009-10 membership year. We have particularly welcomed the range of very constructive and useful input we have received from CYC members in the course of developing the Strategic Plan. While we've taken full account of all the input we have received, it has not been possible to use every suggestion exactly as received. The Vice Commodore, Stuart Allan, has done an outstanding job in bringing together the results of the Committee's considerations, making best use of members' contributions and putting together a very well aligned set of strategies, to which all of us on the Committee are fully committed. We agreed on the final version of the Strategic Plan at our February 2010 CYC Committee Meeting.

To deliver on the CYC Strategic Plan and its strategies, the CYC Committee has a set of specific action items planned and, in some cases already in the course of execution from early in 2010. We will specifically review the progress of these actions quarterly, at our monthly meetings. At the Annual General Meeting, we will report our progress on delivering these actions and achievement of the strategies we have agreed. This Strategic Plan will also be the primary guidance for business planning for the CYC Sailing School, Boat Hire, Boat Shop and our other business activities.

For the future, it is our hope that each incoming CYC Committee will, at one of its earliest regular meetings in its term, review this Strategic Plan and its higher level strategies, adding, deleting, amending and reprioritising as necessary and as required by the CYC's current and projected interests and circumstances. This process would also add a new fourth year to the horizon of the CYC Strategic Plan. The Vice Commodore has lead coordinating responsibility on the CYC Committee for development and management of our Strategic Plan and its implementation.

The CYC Strategic Plan is now in effect and we are managing to it. It is, and should remain, a dynamic document, responding to changing and emergent needs, priorities and the expectations of the CYC membership. If you have views or expectations about our strategies and priorities, please talk with the Vice Commodore, the Commodore or any of your CYC Committee members.
This is not just the Committee's Strategic Plan and the views of all members are of particular importance to us if we're to ensure we deliver outcomes that best meet the CYC's needs."
