The Academy provides a range of opportunities for young people to participate in the sport of sailing in Canberra and compete interstate, develop leadership qualities, and attain recognition for their achievements. Introduction Bronze: Saturday 9.30 am - 11.30 am This course is aimed at students who have very little or no sailing
experience. It will cover the basics of sailing small dinghies. It is hoped
that by the end of the program students will be competent with the contents
of Level One of the Canberra Yacht Club's Sailing School Program. Students, Silver: Group 1: Saturday 12 noon- 2pm &
Group 2: Saturday 2.30pm- 5pm This program is designed to allow students to develop their sailing skills
in the International Optimist dinghy. There are significant restrictions on
the size of students who can sail Optimists. As such, this program is
offered as invitation only. The aim of this course is to enable students to
develop their skills so that they can meet the requirements of Levels 3 and Gold: Wednesday 4pm-6pm (Plus club twilight racing) This program is designed to introduce students to racing. As part of the
course students are required to participate in the Canberra Yacht Club's
Twilight Racing (occurs directly after training) and to keep a log of these
